FAQ What is window film? Window film is a thin laminate material applied to glass surfaces to provide benefits such as heat reduction, glare control, privacy, security, and UV protection. How much does window film installation cost? The cost depends on the film type, window size and installation. We have a wide range of films that will definitely fit your budget! Contact us directly for more information. What is the difference between the types of films? Type of Films Purpose Key Features Common Uses Solar Films Reduces heat, glare and UV rays Non-metallic (no reflective effect) Lowers indoor temperature Improve energy efficiency Homes, offices Privacy Films Provides privacy while reducing heat, glare and UV rays Reflective (one-way mirror effect), prevents outside viewing inside only during the day Lowers indoor temperature Improve energy efficiency Homes, offices Frosted Films Provides privacy with an opaque frosted glass look Blurs visibility while allowing light to pass through Decorative patterns available Toilets/shower Office/Conference Rooms HDB Corridor walkways Blackout/Whiteout Films Provides privacy with an opaque black or white look Completely block out any light and visibility Toilets/shower Office/Conference Rooms Glass doors Safety films Provides security and reinforce glass to be more breakage resistant. Also prevent injuries and reduce damage from accidents Holds broken glass reducing injury risk Increased glass security Scratch-resistant coating Homes, offices Toilets/shower Glass doors Balcony Am I able to get full privacy day and night with only privacy films? No, standard privacy films (one-way mirror reflective films) only provide privacy during the day when there is more light outside than inside. At night, when indoor lights are on, the effect is reversed, making the inside visible from the outside. We recommend opting for frosted films or blackout films if you prefer complete privacy day and night. Can the film be installed on any type of glass? Most films are compatible with most glass panels including double-paned, low-E, tinted glass. However, we do not recommend installing film on polycarbonate glass and acrylic panels. How long does it take to install window film? Installation time varies depending on the size and number of windows. A standard home installation can take a few hours to a full day. How long does window film take to dry? Drying time depends on weather conditions. It can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks, with colder or humid conditions requiring longer drying times. Why are there bubbles after installing the film on the glass? What may look like bubbles after installation are often just water marks or moisture trapped between the film and the glass. These typically evaporate as the film cures, which can take a few days to a few weeks, depending on temperature and humidity. Typically, curing period of 6-8 weeks is required. Please monitor to see if the water bubbles get smaller after the mentioned period. If there are still air bubbles after the curing period, please contact our team. Can I clean my windows after film installation? Yes, but wait at least 7 days after installation before cleaning. Use a soft microfiber cloth with water or a mild, ammonia-free glass cleaner. Will window film damage my windows? No, when installed correctly, high-quality films do not damage windows. In fact, they can extend the lifespan of your glass by reducing exposure to UV rays and heat. Does window film come with a warranty? Yes! 3M window films provide a warranty of 3 years for casement panels, 15 years for fixed and sliding panels. Why do casement panels have a shorter warranty period as compared to fixed and sliding panels? Casement panels are exposed to harsh environmental conditions such as sunlight, rain, humidity, and temperature changes, which can affect the lifespan of window films. Casement panels Fixed & Sliding panels Sunlight & UV Exposure – Prolonged exposure to UV rays can cause fading, discoloration, or breakdown of adhesives over time. Less Exposure to Harsh Elements – Indoor films are protected from direct rain, wind, and extreme weather. Rain & Moisture – Continuous contact with rain and humidity may lead to peeling, bubbling, or reduced adhesion if the film is applied externally. Better Adhesion – Interior applications ensure stronger and longer-lasting bonding to the glass. Wind & Debris – Exterior films on casement panels are more prone to scratches and wear from dust and debris Extended Lifespan – Many interior films can last 10+ years, while exterior films typically have a shorter warranty due to harsher conditions.
